Match between Estrellas and Águilas in Santiago suspended due to heavy rains
Adverse weather conditions affecting the northern region of the Dominican Republic forced the interruption and subsequent postponement of this Wednesday’s game between the Estrellas Orientales and the Águilas Cibaeñas. The match, part of the 2026-2027 autumn-winter baseball tournament, could not be completed due to the persistent rain that fell on Estadio Cibao.
The game was officially halted during the top of the second inning, at which point the score reflected a scoreless tie. Given the impossibility of maintaining the field in conditions suitable for play, the maintenance staff proceeded to place the protective tarps, while the officiating crew evaluated the situation.
Official LIDOM decision
After a brief wait and an evaluation by the umpires, it was determined that the field did not offer the necessary safety guarantees for the players, and therefore the final suspension of the day’s play was decreed. The Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) will soon announce the new date for this match to be held.
This event marks the first game suspended due to inclement weather in the current season, which honors the memory of the distinguished businessman Héctor José Rizek Llabaly.
It should be noted that the official calendar includes the next matchup between these two teams at the Cibao Stadium for Wednesday, November 4, with the time scheduled for 7:30 at night. Alofoke Deportes will continue to follow up on any official update issued by the league regarding the rescheduling of this match.
