Rain forces the postponement of the duel between Estrellas and Águilas in Santiago once again

The matchup between the Estrellas Orientales and the Águilas Cibaeñas, scheduled for this Monday at the Cibao Stadium, has been postponed for the second time due to persistent rainfall affecting various areas of the Dominican Republic. The adverse weather conditions prevented the game from taking place, adding to the list of rain-related setbacks in the current season.

The game, which had originally been rescheduled last Wednesday, was in the top of the second inning with a scoreless tie (0-0) at the time of its initial interruption. After evaluating the state of the field and the weather forecast, the officiating crew, led by Edward Pinales, made the final decision to suspend the day’s play.

Suspension details

  • The decision was made in consensus with managers Héctor Borg, of the Estrellas Orientales, and Luis “Pipe” Urueta, of the Águilas Cibaeñas.
  • LIDOM will soon communicate the official date on which this pending game will be completed.
  • This 2026-2027 championship is held in honor of the memory of businessman Héctor José Rizek Llabaly.

The integrity of the field and the safety of the players are the priority given the weather conditions the country is experiencing.
