Rafael Paz questions INABIE management and educational results in the country
Political leader and member of the Political Directorate of the Fuerza del Pueblo party, Rafael Paz, launched harsh criticisms against the current government administration regarding the management of educational institutions. According to Paz, the system has lost its way, turning essential bodies into entities focused exclusively on administrative processes and bidding.
Criticism of INABIE’s role
Paz was emphatic in pointing out that the National Institute for Student Welfare (INABIE) has distorted its original mission. For the leader, the institution has gone from being an entity that guarantees student welfare to functioning primarily as a food procurement agency, losing sight of its fundamental purpose within the national education system.
It is like INABIE, which is no longer a student welfare institute, it is a food bidding institute.

The leader analyzed the recent results of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), stressing that the true alarm does not lie only in the comparative position against other countries, but in the setback experienced by the Dominican Republic compared to the measurements obtained in 2022.
Paz criticized the Ministry of Education’s stance of comparing current data with the year 2018, labeling this action as a strategy to divert attention from recent performance. “The honest thing to do is to admit that we have regressed and open a sincere dialogue to identify the failures,” he stated.
The focus on 4% of GDP
Another central point of his speech was the management of the education budget. Paz maintained that the commitment to 4% of the Gross Domestic Product for education has become the only priority for officials, neglecting the quality of learning and compliance with the Educational Pact.
