Police operations in Independencia and Valverde result in two arrests and seizure of illicit items

In a series of strategic interventions carried out by agents of the National Police and the Public Ministry, the authorities managed to arrest two people in the provinces of Independencia and Valverde. During these operations, firearms, controlled substances, contraband goods, and various illegal items were confiscated, reinforcing the fight against crime in these areas of the country.

Decisive actions in Independencia province

In the Independencia province, intelligence operations by DINTEL, supported by preventive units, focused on the municipalities of Duvergé and Jimaní. In Puerto Escondido, 62-year-old Juancito Medrano was arrested. After searching his home, authorities seized:

  • A 9-millimeter caliber pistol with seven casings.
  • A 12-millimeter caliber shotgun.
  • Six cartridges, a bulletproof vest, and military-use clothing.

Likewise, in a parallel operation carried out in the community of El Limón, agents seized a shipment of presumably smuggled items, which included 12 packs of cigarettes and 40 bottles of alcoholic beverages, in addition to five bladed weapons.

Blow to micro-trafficking in Valverde

On the other hand, in the Capilla sector of the Guatapanal municipal district, in Valverde, law enforcement forces captured 18-year-old Edward Sadiel Estrella Hernández. During the search, a considerable amount of illicit substances, allegedly intended for micro-trafficking, was seized from him:

The authorities accounted for a total of 71 grams of narcotics, broken down into 26 grams of a white powder, presumably cocaine, and 45 grams of a green vegetable matter, presumably marijuana.

In addition to the substances, two Gato brand motorcycles were seized, which will be analyzed as part of the ongoing investigations. The detainees and the evidence were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the corresponding legal purposes.
