Merits trial for the Jet Set case begins firmly: victims demand compliance with sentence
The judicial process seeking to clarify the responsibilities surrounding the Jet Set tragedy has taken a decisive step following the holding of its first substantive hearing. Plutarco Jáquez, the lawyer representing the victims, reported that the inaugural session allowed for the formal reading of the indictment and the presentation of opening statements by the plaintiffs, the defense, and the third parties civilly liable.
An agile and vigilant judicial process
The jurist highlighted that, although the case has generated notable media attention and social sensitivity, it is not a file of excessive technical complexity. Therefore, he projects that the trial against siblings Antonio and Maribel Espaillat could conclude in a period of three to four weeks.
To expedite the development of the process, a hearing schedule has been established for every Friday, where the presentation of between 10 and 15 witnesses is estimated for each session.
