Young Dominicans present innovative solutions at the first PLD Youth Hackathon
The Youth Secretariat of the Dominican Liberation Party (JPLD) has launched its first “Youth Hackathon: Ideas that Transform the Country.” This event, held at the Reinaldo Pared Pérez National House, has become a key meeting point for young talents from various provinces to propose solutions to national challenges, with the goal of these initiatives becoming pillars for future public policies.
The event features the participation of 42 young people, aged between 16 and 35, coming from different parts of the national territory such as Valverde and Azua. These participants are working on projects focused on vital areas such as health, education, environment, science, technology, sports, mental health, and digital marketing.
What has filled us with the most satisfaction is seeing young faces, very young, even 16-year-olds, many of them with ideas and a desire to contribute to their country.

A space for talent and professional development
The event not only seeks the exchange of ideas, but also to reward excellence. The projects will be evaluated by a jury composed of specialists from diverse areas, who will assess the innovation, social impact, sustainability, and viability of each proposal. The winners will benefit from financial incentives, as well as study scholarships and specialized diplomas in artificial intelligence.

- Inclusion: The event is open to young people, regardless of their previous political affiliation.
- Representation: The strong female presence in the party’s current structures is highlighted.
For his part, Adán Herrera, Undersecretary of Youth, highlighted that the central objective is to listen to the concerns of this generation and turn them into a fundamental part of the party’s government plans. “We hope to have more closeness with the youth of the Dominican Republic, so they can express their concerns to us,” Herrera pointed out.
With more than 250 young people currently integrated into the Central Committee, the party reaffirms its intention to continue a process of internal renewal. According to leader Venecia Morales, this hackathon is just a sample of the PLD’s commitment to Dominican youth, seeking to create spaces where knowledge and creativity translate into concrete proposals to improve the national reality.
