Pedro Botello denounces irregularities following arrests in Operation Cobra 2.0-A
Lawyer Pedro Botello has raised his voice following the recent raids carried out by the Public Ministry within the framework of the investigation known as Operation Cobra 2.0-A, linked to alleged irregularities in the National Health Insurance (SeNaSa). The jurist, who has assumed the legal defense of one of the legislators involved along with lawyer Francis Severino, described the arrests as a media stunt.
Upon his arrival at the Attorney General’s Office, Botello maintained that his client has been used as a scapegoat within this judicial process. According to the lawyer, from the beginning of the investigations, the true individuals responsible for the alleged embezzlement affecting the Dominican health system had already been identified, which is why he questioned the nature of the recent arrests.

Public Ministry procedure questioned
For his part, lawyer Francis Severino denounced that the operation carried out early this Friday lacked basic legal protocols. Severino asserted that the detained doctor was never notified or previously summoned by the authorities before proceeding with the arrest.

Operation Cobra 2.0-A, which included 37 simultaneous raids in various parts of the country, resulted in the arrest of 28 people, including doctors and various health service providers. The Public Prosecutor’s Office maintains its position that this phase is crucial to dismantle a fraud scheme that has hit SeNaSa’s finances.
Pedro Botello indicated that he will offer more details to the public once he can meet personally with his client and analyze in depth the elements presented by the prosecuting body during the execution of the raids.
