Ombudsman promotes knowledge of the Penal Code in Monte Plata
The province of Monte Plata was the setting selected by the Ombudsman to carry out the talk-workshop titled “Penal Code for the Citizenship”. This activity is part of the so-called Citizenship Route, a strategic project that travels through various points of the national territory with the objective of fostering social empowerment, respect for fundamental rights, and the fulfillment of civic duties.
The head of the institution, Pablo Ulloa, led the meeting, placing special emphasis on the need for Dominicans to fully understand the laws that structure social coexistence. As Ulloa highlighted, knowledge of the regulations is not only a legal exercise, but an indispensable tool to guarantee the effective protection of each individual’s rights in their daily lives.
Key points of the training day
The event, held in the provincial government’s assembly hall, allowed for a breakdown of the most relevant aspects of the amendments to the Penal Code. Attendees had the opportunity to clear up doubts and analyze the real impact these provisions have on the development of daily life. Among the key points of the day, the following stood out:
- Strengthening civic education through accessible and practical language.
- Analyzing legislative changes from a perspective oriented toward the benefit of the population.
- Creating an open space for dialogue to resolve legal concerns.
The Citizenship Route seeks for every Dominican to be an active entity in their community, aware of their rights and with the necessary tools to participate in public affairs that define collective well-being.

In addition to the talk on the Penal Code, the institutional agenda in Monte Plata included a presentation at the local Chamber of Commerce on the National System of Deliberation and Citizenship. With this deployment, the institution reaffirms its commitment to maintaining a constant presence in the provinces, promoting a State that is closer, more transparent, and more efficient for all citizens.
