Norisbel Uceta proposes an armistice in the Dominican opposition in the face of the internal crisis
Communicator and Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) leader, Norisbel Uceta, has issued a harsh self-criticism regarding the current state of the political opposition in the Dominican Republic. During her participation on the radio show Politikal, Uceta lamented the lack of cohesion and the absence of a clear strategy within the opposition bloc, pointing out that internal divisions are weakening their chances against the ruling party.
“The opposition in the Dominican Republic, myself included, is pathetic and shameful,” stated the leader, who maintains that the parties opposed to the Government have lost focus by prioritizing mutual confrontations instead of articulating a common front against the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM).
An “armistice” in the style of the two Koreas
Faced with the escalating tensions between the Fuerza del Pueblo and the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Uceta proposed a drastic solution: a political armistice. The communicator compared the situation to the conflict between North Korea and South Korea, suggesting that, even though there are ideological and competitive differences, it is necessary to cease internal hostilities in order to survive politically.
An armistice is… although we are still in a certain war, but we are going to take a break… and we try to keep the party as calm as possible. Everyone from their place must do a commendable job to try to remove the PRM from power. We are not the enemies.

Criticism of the lack of political seriousness
The FP leader was emphatic in questioning the behavior of certain political leaders who, in her view, have turned the debate into a spectacle. Uceta condemned the recent statements of figures such as PLD deputy Gustavo Sánchez, who has launched attacks against former President Leonel Fernández, describing these types of actions as unproductive for the democratic system.

Uceta closed her speech with a blunt warning: as long as the opposition continues “killing each other among brothers,” electoral failure will be inevitable. According to the communicator, the only way to regain ground is through political maturity and mutual understanding, setting aside the attacks that only serve to keep the opposition bloc watching power from the outside.
