National Police warns of proportional response to clashes with criminals
The Director General of the National Police, Major General Ernesto Rafael Rodríguez García, issued a firm warning this Sunday following his visit to Santiago de los Caballeros. The high-ranking police official stated that any citizen who decides to confront officers during security interventions will be exposed to a proportional response from the authorities.
Rodríguez García emphasized that, although the institution deeply regrets the loss of human life in operations—considering the preservation of life a fundamental mandate—agents have an inescapable duty to protect their physical integrity when they are attacked in the performance of their duties.

Call for voluntary surrender and respect for authority
The police director made a direct appeal to those with pending accounts with the justice system to surrender peacefully, thus avoiding fatal outcomes. He reiterated that those who choose to commit crimes will face the authorities, always within the framework of the proportional use of force and respect for human rights.
- Zero tolerance for police abuse: Any officer who violates institutional rules will be sanctioned in accordance with the law.
- Shared responsibility: Public safety depends as much on the citizen’s respect for the officer as it does on the protection the latter provides to society.
- Direct supervision: The director general is conducting field visits to personally evaluate the performance of the units in Santiago.
Strategic supervision in Santiago
During his tour of the Heart City, Rodríguez García was accompanied by the Cibao Central regional director, General Jesús R. Tejada Tejada. The main objective of his presence is to supervise ongoing operations and verify that the instructions issued from the general command are strictly complied with in the field.
The major general concluded by emphasizing that his management is based on direct contact with his men and on the constant evaluation of the strategies implemented to guarantee peace and order throughout the demarcation.
