Man accused of multiple robberies and theft of property captured in Jarabacoa
Agents of the Criminal Investigation Division of the National Police, stationed in the municipality of Jarabacoa, managed to capture José Ángel Cruz García, known in the criminal underworld as Ángel. The arrest was executed in compliance with judicial order number 1872-2026-SAUT-00374, on charges related to the illicit theft of property, in accordance with the provisions of the Dominican Penal Code.
Recovery of stolen assets
After exhaustive intelligence work, the authorities managed to recover a large quantity of items and belongings that had been reported stolen from a private property. Among the recovered objects are:
- Doors and windows
- Toilets and sinks
- Appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators, and fans
- Furniture, including bed sets, mattresses, furniture, and lamps
Modus operandi and citizen collaboration
Investigations revealed that the detainee used the digital platform Marketplace to market the stolen items. After the inquiries, it was determined that several citizens had acquired these objects in good faith; however, upon being notified of their illicit origin, they proceeded to voluntarily hand them over to law enforcement officers.
The recovered items were fully identified by the affected party, while the accused has been transferred into custody to be placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, where they must answer for the accusations against them before the corresponding courts.
With this action, the authorities of Jarabacoa reaffirm their commitment to citizen security and the fight against the theft of material goods in the area.
