Mixed patrol motorcycle recovered after assault in Santiago
The National Police managed to recover the motorcycle that was stolen from a joint patrol, composed of police officers and members of the Dominican Republic Army, during a violent incident recorded in the La Noriega sector, located in the southern area of Santiago. The vehicle was found abandoned in the La Ceibita community, shortly after the criminals fled the scene.
Incident details
The incident occurred when the uniformed officers were carrying out their patrol duties and detected a suspicious situation in the carport of a residence. According to the preliminary report, the agents intervened upon noticing that several individuals were holding a family at gunpoint. In the midst of the confrontation, the criminals managed to overpower the patrol, stripping them of the following items:
- A standard-issue shotgun.
- A standard-issue pistol.
- The official motorcycle used by the officers.
- Various police equipment accessories.
Research advances
The Cibao Central Regional Directorate of the National Police has deployed a search operation to find those responsible. So far, the authorities have confirmed significant progress in the case:
The law enforcement institution has already identified one of the alleged individuals involved in the assault and is maintaining active protocols to achieve his capture and subsequent submission to the justice system.
Although the motorcycle has been recovered, the authorities are still working on locating the stolen firearms. Several people have been summoned for questioning with the aim of clarifying the facts and determining the whereabouts of the others involved in this attack against law enforcement officers.
