Massive drone attack leaves fatalities in Moscow during election day
The Moscow region was shaken this Sunday by a large-scale aerial offensive carried out with drones, coinciding with the closing of the parliamentary elections in Russia. According to official reports, the incident resulted in the loss of two human lives and left six people injured, including two minors.
The regional governor, Andrei Vorobyov, confirmed that the fatalities were a 44-year-old woman and an elderly man, who lost their lives after the impact of the devices on their private homes.
An unprecedented operation
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin described the event as the most significant attack recorded against the Russian capital since the start of the conflict. Authorities reported that, throughout the day, more than 1,600 drones were intercepted in the vicinity of the city, of which about 450 were neutralized in areas near the urban center.
The largest enemy drone attack ever perpetrated against Moscow has been repelled.

According to official information, the impacts reached strategic and residential points, including an oil refinery and an apartment building. Local authorities maintain that this aerial incursion, described as an unprecedented attack, had as its main objective to generate instability and disrupt the Russian electoral process that concludes this Sunday.
