María Vargas is crowned as Miss Universe Mexico 2026
On the night of August 29th, the Mexican beauty world experienced a transcendental moment with the election of the new national sovereign. María Vargas, representative of the state of Jalisco, took the title of Miss Universe Mexico 2026, standing out among a group of 32 candidates who competed for the prestigious crown at a gala held at Rancho Tierra Sagrada, located in Los Cabos.
Profile of the new queen
At 28 years old, the new Miss Universe Mexico not only has an outstanding career in modeling, but also possesses a solid academic background as a graduate in International Business. Beyond her professional facet, Vargas has ventured into literature with her work titled “Miss Trouble,” a text in which she reflects on the challenges, criticisms, and prejudices she has had to overcome throughout her public career.
A new cycle for the organization
The triumph of the representative from Jalisco officially marks the end of Fátima Bosch’s reign, who during the last year carried out an active agenda of national and international commitments, consolidating the organization’s image in various events of great relevance. With this transition, the Mexican institution begins a new stage focused on preparation for the ultimate global pageant.
María Vargas will take on the commitment of representing Mexico in the 75th edition of Miss Universe, which will take place on November 24, 2026, at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum, located in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
