Margarita Cedeño urges the PLD to reflect following the suspension of the internal consultation

Following the recent decision to suspend the internal consultation that the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) had scheduled for next October 18, former Vice President Margarita Cedeño has made an urgent call to all the militancy and leadership of the political organization to analyze the current landscape with maturity and responsibility.

Through his official channels, Cedeño emphasized that this pause period must be strategically used to review internal processes, assume the consequences of what occurred, and establish mechanisms that guarantee that similar situations do not affect the institution’s stability in the future.

Political greatness above particular interests

Today is not a time for recriminations or for seeking culprits. This scenario requires political greatness and demonstrating that we have learned from our history, placing collective interests above individual aspirations.

The leader recalled the importance of keeping alive the principles bequeathed by the party’s founder, Juan Bosch, stressing that politics must always be exercised with a sense of nation and shared responsibility. Although she acknowledged the legitimate right of members to aspire to leadership positions, Cedeño insisted that the well-being of the country and the party must prevail over any personal goal.

Transforming crisis into opportunity

For the former vice president, the suspension of the process should not be seen solely as a setback, but as a necessary juncture for the party to look at itself, overcome internal differences, and strengthen its structure. According to Cedeño, every crisis carries an opportunity for improvement if there is the will to set aside egos and elevate the vision toward higher goals.

  • In-depth review of the PLD’s internal operations.
  • Prioritization of party unity over individual aspirations.
  • Reaffirmation of the organization’s ethical and programmatic principles.

Although Cedeño’s message focused on introspection and unity, the leader avoided going into detail about the specific reasons that led to the cancellation of the consultation, focusing her speech on the need to unite the base and strengthen the party’s identity before the electorate.
