Armed man captured during police operation in La Vega
In a recent intervention carried out by National Police agents in the province of La Vega, a 40-year-old man was arrested after being caught in possession of bladed weapons and items of suspicious origin. The operation was executed by members of the Division of Investigation of Crimes against Property.
The individual, identified as Rudy Rafael Santos, known in the sector as “Lala”, was inside a vehicle at the moment authorities approached to perform a routine check. Upon noticing the presence of the agents, Santos attempted to flee the scene, but was quickly intercepted by the police team.
Findings during the intervention
Following the thorough search conducted on the detainee and the vehicle where he was located, the officers managed to seize several items that were placed into custody as part of the ongoing investigation. Among the items seized are:
- A handmade weapon, commonly referred to as a “chilena”.
- A machete with an approximate length of 20 inches.
- A pair of pliers-type tool.
- A Motorola brand mobile device.
The law enforcement institution confirmed that the citizen was notified of his constitutional rights immediately before being transferred to the police station to continue with the corresponding legal protocol.
Up to this moment, the authorities have not offered additional details regarding the specific charges that will be brought against Santos, nor the exact reasons that motivated the intervention in the area. The case remains under analysis by the competent authorities to determine the legal responsibilities of the detainee.
