Emmanuel Macron urges the G7 to coordinate actions to stabilize the global energy market
The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, has made an urgent call to the G7 member countries to act in a joint and coordinated manner in the face of global energy market volatility. The main objective of this initiative is to avoid restrictions on exports of oil and derivatives, thus guaranteeing a stable supply and containing the increase in fuel prices that affects the international economy.
This position was communicated by the French president during bilateral talks with his counterparts from the United States and Canada, with the purpose of aligning strategies in light of the current situation. As part of his diplomatic efforts, Macron will lead a videoconference with the leaders of the group—comprised of Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Japan—to define concrete steps in response to this crisis.
Key measures to address the price crisis
Within the framework of joint actions, the French president confirmed that the G7 has agreed on a series of strategic measures to alleviate pressure on the markets. Among the most notable points are:
- Release of up to 100 million barrels of crude oil and diesel over the next four months.
- Strict commitment not to impose diesel export bans among member countries.
- Close collaboration with the International Energy Agency (IEA) to ensure global supply.
The coordinated actions by the G7 have as a priority the stabilization of prices and the maintenance of the global flow of crude oil and refined products.
Presidency of France
From the French government headquarters, it has been emphasized that there is a common interest in keeping markets open. In addition to coordination with the G7, French authorities continue to work on measures at a European scale to strengthen the continent’s energy security and mitigate the effects of rising fuel costs for consumers.
