LIDOM to implement automated balls and strikes system in the 2026-2027 season

The Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) takes a firm step toward technological innovation. Vitelio Mejía, president of the entity, announced that starting this Friday, the automated balls and strikes system (ABS) will be implemented in the winter tournament games, marking a milestone in the modernization of local baseball.

During the official presentation of the Banreservas Cup and the advertising campaign for the 2026-2027 season, Mejía underscored that this implementation is part of a comprehensive strategy to energize the game and raise the standards of precision on the field.

Administrative advances and digitalization

In addition to improvements on the field, the league has prioritized administrative efficiency. The executive highlighted that the digitization of team rosters has been completed, a strategic measure designed to optimize management processes and prevent the administrative irregularities that occurred in past tournaments.

The integration of these technological tools reflects our constant commitment to the evolution of Dominican baseball and transparency in each of the league’s processes.

International projection: LIDOM in Miami

Regarding the expansion of the LIDOM brand abroad, Vitelio Mejía confirmed that taking winter league games to Miami remains a latent goal on the organization’s agenda. Although the project remains firm, the executive clarified that, for the moment, a specific date for the execution of these international matches has not been defined.

With these moves, LIDOM seeks to consolidate itself as a cutting-edge benchmark in the Caribbean, combining the tradition of our baseball with the technology of the world’s major leagues.
