Leones del Escogido begin the road to a three-peat: training camp starts September 25th
The Leones del Escogido, current back-to-back champions of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), have confirmed their official return date to the field. With their sights set on the 2026-27 season, the capital city team will begin their training on September 25th.
The preparation of the red squad will take place at the New York Yankees academy facilities, located in Boca Chica. According to what was reported by the general manager, Carlos Peña, the practices are scheduled to begin at 9:00 in the morning.
Call and preparation
For this first day, the team’s management has made a formal call to all players who are part of the native reserve. Likewise, the talents selected during the last 2026 Rookie Draft have been invited to join from the first day to adapt to the team’s discipline.
The goal is clear: to maintain the competitiveness that has allowed us to achieve glory in the previous two seasons and fight for our nineteenth national title.
Reinforcements and continuity
After winning the 2024-25 and 2025-26 championships, Escogido has worked intensely during the off-season to bolster its roster. Among the new additions are figures of great experience and versatility:

The road to the 2026-27 season
The scarlet fans already have the start date of the tournament marked on their calendar. El Escogido will make its official debut on October 16 at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, facing the Tigres del Licey in the inaugural duel, in what promises to be a start of the season full of emotions.
