Leones del Escogido impose their offense against Toros del Este
The Leones del Escogido extended their good momentum in the 2026-2027 autumn-winter baseball tournament after defeating the Toros del Este 15-11 in an electrifying duel held at the Francisco A. Micheli stadium. With this triumph, the scarlet team adds its third consecutive victory, consolidating its rise in the standings.
The capital city’s offense was the determining factor, connecting for a total of 17 hits that mercilessly punished the bull’s pitching throughout the day. Led by the performances of Jason Schiavone, Andy Ibáñez, José Marmolejos, and Jonathan Guzmán, the two-time national champions demonstrated their ability to react and their power in every inning.
A constant offensive deployment
From the first inning, Escogido took the initiative. Vidal Bruján and Junior Lake were key pieces in opening the scoring, setting an aggressive tone that was maintained throughout the game. The five-run rally in the fourth inning, capped by a bases-clearing double from Andy Ibáñez, proved fundamental in tipping the scales in favor of the visitors.
The Lions’ offensive production was led by Jason Schiavone, who finished 3-for-5 with two doubles, three runs scored, and two RBIs, while Andy Ibáñez contributed four runs batted in during a brilliant day for the team.
