Two men captured for violent assault in Villa González

Agents of the Central Directorate of Investigation (DICRIM) managed to capture two individuals involved in a high-risk robbery that occurred on September 22 at a residence and a buy-and-sell establishment in the municipality of Villa González, Santiago. The incident, which caused great commotion, included physical subjugation and death threats against one of the victims to force the opening of a safe.

The detainees were identified as Luis Miguel Sánchez Lebrón, known as “Lebrón”, and Justo Ramón Durán Jiménez, nicknamed “Tatuaje” or “El Fuerte”. The latter was located and arrested during a series of operations carried out in the municipality of Navarrete.

Seized evidence and details of the illicit act

During the interventions, executed under judicial order and with the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the authorities seized a 9-millimeter caliber pistol, which had been modified to .380, along with its magazine and ammunition. In addition, a Toyota RAV4 SUV, a motorcycle, a DVR recording system, and a safe were recovered, which are key elements for the progress of the investigations.

The assailants subdued the victim through beatings and restraints, using death threats to gain access to the safe, from which they stole cash, US currency, gold jewelry, and legal documents, including property deeds and vehicle registrations.

Search for more involved parties

The authorities maintain an active search for Luciano Mendoza Santos, alias “El Son” or “Papón”, who is identified as a material co-author of the crime and has an active arrest warrant. On the other hand, Braulio Vélez remains under investigation for his alleged participation in the safeguarding and subsequent acquisition of the stolen goods.

In a raid linked to Vélez, agents managed to recover a Honeywell-brand safe, which will be subjected to technical expert analysis in accordance with established legal protocols. The National Police reaffirmed that the investigative process is ongoing to locate other possible accomplices and recover all of the stolen assets.
