Ketel Marte prepares for an imminent return with the Diamondbacks
The stellar Dominican second baseman, Ketel Marte, is in the final stage of his recovery and everything points to him wearing the Arizona Diamondbacks uniform again early next week. The player has shown significant progress after overcoming an injury that kept him out of the game.
Torey Lovullo, manager of the Arizona team, confirmed that the second baseman has been medically cleared to participate in batting practice. This progress is key to his activation from the 10-day injured list, where he was placed on August 20 due to inflammation in his left knee.
A strategic return for Arizona
The Diamondbacks’ coaching staff has a roadmap laid out for Marte’s return. According to Lovullo’s projections, the Dominican player could be available for next Tuesday’s matchup, the date on which the team will begin a home series against the Philadelphia Phillies.
There is definitely a strategy for him to return to the field, be healthy, and continue with that preparation. If he is ready for the series against Philadelphia, we will immediately take advantage of his return to the lineup.

Marte’s absence has been felt by the Arizona offense. The path to his medical leave included previous episodes of physical discomfort, including a game missed on August 15. After an MRI confirmed inflammation in his knee, the organization decided to prioritize his health through a supervised rehabilitation process.
General manager Mike Hazen, along with Lovullo, held productive meetings with the player and his representation to ensure that the return process is safe and effective.
