Jeremy Rhoades will be the starting pitcher for the Leones del Escogido for the opening game
Everything is ready for the start of the 2026-2027 season of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). The Leones del Escogido have confirmed that right-handed pitcher Jeremy Rhoades will be in charge of taking the mound this Friday at 7:15 p.m., in the historic matchup against the Tigres del Licey at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal stadium.
The designation was made official by manager Ramón Santiago, who placed his trust in the American veteran following his outstanding performance in the Mexican Baseball League with the Olmecas de Tabasco.
Rhoades was an extraordinary pitcher with the Olmecas de Tabasco. He has multiple pitches that can do damage. I believe he is someone who has the capacity to assume that number one role with us.

Trajectory and experience in LIDOM
At 33 years old, Rhoades arrives at Escogido with a solid resume. In his recent stint in Mexico, he recorded a 7-4 record with a 3.54 ERA, striking out 71 batters in 89 innings of work. Furthermore, his adaptation to Dominican baseball will not be an issue, as he has previous experience in the league following his time with the Águilas Cibaeñas in the 2018-2019 season, where he posted a notable 1.38 ERA.
The goal: the three-peat
With his sights set on winning their third consecutive title, Ramón Santiago emphasized that the team’s focus is to maintain consistency and trust the daily process. For this season, the Leones are keeping a solid core of experienced players who were key pieces in securing the back-to-back championship.
