Irregularities reported in legal case involving Edwin Encarnación
Communicator Ramón Tolentino has raised serious questions regarding the transparency of the investigation into a violent incident that occurred in La Romana, which involves former Major League Baseball player Edwin Encarnación and his wife, media personality Karen Yapoort. What began as an altercation between citizens has escalated into an accusation of obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence.
During his participation in the program Esto No es Radio, Tolentino claimed that the original complaint filed against the former baseball player was deleted from the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) system. Added to this serious accusation is the disappearance of video records from security cameras at the Casa de Campo complex and nearby areas, which are key pieces to clarify the facts.
Ballistic evidence and accusations
After conducting his own investigation on the Coral Highway, the site where a vehicular pursuit took place, the journalist collected evidence that, according to his statements, he will formally hand over to the competent authorities. Tolentino showed 12 9-millimeter caliber casings and an intact bullet to the cameras, which were allegedly recovered in the area of the incident.
By what authority or who ordered the hard drives of all those cameras that are supposed to cover Casa de Campo and its surroundings to be wiped, because there are no videos? This is a matter of public safety; this has gone beyond show business.

Contradictory versions: A judicial labyrinth
The case has become a complex crossfire of accusations where both parties maintain opposing narratives:
- Complainants: Kelvin Alexander Martínez Trinidad and Wagner Dennis Mejía allege attempted homicide, claiming that Encarnación chased them and fired at their vehicle following an altercation at a gas station.
- Encarnación’s version: The former baseball player and his security team maintain that they were victims of an attempted vehicular assault by the occupants of a pickup truck, which forced them to repel an armed aggression that, according to their version, was initiated by the other party.
Given the gravity of the events, which include the use of firearms and the apparent suppression of evidence, Tolentino has urged the Public Prosecutor’s Office to intervene with greater rigor, stressing that the magnitude of the conflict transcends the realm of entertainment to become a public safety issue that requires immediate clarification by the authorities.
