The International Association of Hotel Investors (Inverotel) has expressed its deep concern regarding the increasing arrival of sargassum on the coasts of the Dominican Republic. The entity, aware of the relevance that coastal destinations have for the national economy, has extended a formal proposal to the Ministry of Tourism to collaborate closely in the mitigation of this environmental phenomenon.
Through an official communication sent to Minister David Collado, the organization underscored the need to implement effective preventive measures. Hotel representatives base their concern on the experience observed in other Caribbean destinations, such as the Riviera Maya in Mexico, where sargassum has evolved into a national-scale challenge that compromises the competitiveness and image of the tourism sector.

Inverotel emphasized that the massive accumulation of these algae not only alters the visitor experience but also puts the sustainability of marine ecosystems at risk. Given this scenario, the association has requested information on the current working groups for the monitoring and treatment of sargassum, reaffirming its full willingness to join such initiatives.
