Weather forecast: Tropical wave and trough will affect the national territory
The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) has issued a report on weather conditions for the coming hours, warning that the combination of a tropical wave and a trough in the upper levels of the troposphere will cause atmospheric instability in various regions of the Dominican Republic. Downpours, thunderstorms, and wind gusts are expected in much of the country.
During the morning, passing showers and isolated thunderstorms will be recorded in provinces such as El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Samaná, and María Trinidad Sánchez. As the afternoon progresses, the intensity of the phenomena will increase, with moderate to heavy rainfall expected in sectors of Monte Plata, Monseñor Nouel, Sánchez Ramírez, La Vega, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, and the northern part of San Juan.
Recommendations for intense heat
Despite the rains, high temperatures will continue to be the main feature, with a high heat index. The presence of Saharan dust particles will maintain a grayish and hot environment, so meteorological authorities urge the population to take preventive measures:
- Maintain constant hydration through frequent water intake.
- Use light clothing, preferably in light colors and breathable fabrics.
- Avoid direct exposure to sunlight between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
- Prioritize the care of the most vulnerable groups, such as children, the elderly, and pregnant women.
It is essential to stay in cool and ventilated places to mitigate the effects of the extreme heat that will be felt throughout the day.
Conditions in Greater Santo Domingo
For the National District and the municipalities of Santo Domingo, sunny skies are expected with a tendency to become cloudy during the afternoon, bringing local showers and isolated thunderstorms. Minimum temperatures will range between 24 °C and 26 °C, while maximums will reach values between 34 °C and 36 °C, maintaining a stifling environment for the residents of the capital.
