Weather forecast: Trough and humidity will generate rain this Monday in the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) has issued a detailed report on the weather conditions that will prevail this Monday in the national territory. The incidence of a trough in the upper levels of the troposphere, added to the residual humidity after the passage of a tropical wave, will cause atmospheric instability in various regions of the country.
Since the early hours of the morning, rainfall accompanied by electrical activity and wind gusts has been recorded in strategic points, including Greater Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Monte Cristi, La Romana, and San Pedro de Macorís. These conditions will tend to dissipate as the morning progresses, giving way to a mostly sunny environment with isolated cloud increases across much of the national geography.
Increase in rainfall activity during the afternoon
The meteorological agency expects convective activity to intensify again during the afternoon period. The areas with the highest probability of experiencing downpours, thunderstorms, and wind gusts include:
- Monte Plata and Hato Mayor.
- La Vega and the southern area of Santiago.
- Santiago Rodríguez and Valverde.
- Elías Piña and the northern sector of San Juan.
These weather conditions are the direct result of the interaction between the upper-level trough and the moisture content present in the air mass covering the region, which will keep the weather unstable for the rest of the day.
