Weather forecast: Downpours and thunderstorms will mark this Saturday in the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) has issued its official report for this Saturday, warning of a day characterized by atmospheric instability. The combination of humidity and unstable weather conditions is expected to generate isolated showers during the early hours of the day, evolving into more intense downpours accompanied by thunderstorms by the afternoon.
Precipitation details by region
During the morning, meteorological activities will be concentrated mainly in the provinces of Santo Domingo, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, and San Cristóbal, where passing showers and thunderstorms are expected. As the day progresses, the outlook will change towards the afternoon, affecting various areas of the national territory:
- Regions with the highest incidence: Monte Plata, Hato Mayor, Sánchez Ramírez, and Monseñor Nouel will experience local downpours, wind gusts, and electrical storms.
- Mountainous and northern areas: Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected, with special attention in northern San Juan, Azua, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, and Dajabón.
Meteorological authorities have specified that these rainy conditions will tend to decrease gradually once nightfall begins.

Indomet is keeping a low-pressure area located southwest of the Azores under observation. This phenomenon currently has an 80% probability of reaching cyclonic development both in the next 48 hours and over the course of the coming week.
Conditions in Greater Santo Domingo
For the National District and the municipalities of Santo Domingo Norte, Oeste, and Este, the forecast indicates the day will begin with scattered cloudiness and isolated showers. During the afternoon, the environment will become hot with a slightly grayish sky. Citizens should prepare for temperatures ranging between 24 °C and 26 °C as minimums, reaching maximums of up to 35 °C.
