Dominican government prepares ten-year plan to strengthen citizen security 2026-2035
The Dominican State is immersed in the creation of an ambitious ten-year citizen security plan that will cover the 2026-2035 period. This comprehensive strategy aims to establish clear goals, management indicators, and precise objectives for all state institutions in charge of preventing and combating crime in the country.
Laura Rodríguez, Director of Public Policy at the Ministry of Interior and Police, detailed that this Sectoral Strategic Plan will serve as the articulating axis of the National Citizen Security System. As she explained, the initiative seeks to consolidate a robust planning model that allows for a coordinated response to current challenges regarding public order.
A process based on data and inter-institutional collaboration
The development of this project has followed a rigorous technical methodology. The process began with an in-depth diagnosis supported by official figures and the results of a national citizen security survey. This database allowed for the precise identification of priority needs in each demarcation of the national territory.
To ensure a comprehensive vision, various sectoral workshops were held with the participation of representatives from multiple organizations. Among the entities involved are:
- Ministry of Education
- Ministry of Public Health
- Ministry of Sports
- Ministry of Culture
- Social Policy Cabinet
- National Police
The Ministry of Interior and Police seeks to strengthen its leading role in citizen security, ensuring effective coordination among all government institutions to improve social coexistence.
Currently, the project is in the final stage of validating the results matrices. Once this step is concluded, the plan will be presented to President Luis Abinader for his evaluation and subsequent formal approval, thus marking a new roadmap for the protection of Dominican citizens in the coming decade.
