Government delivers 50 compactor trucks to optimize waste management nationwide
The Ministry of the Presidency (MAPRE) has taken a firm step in strengthening municipal services by delivering 50 new compactor trucks. This initiative aims primarily to improve efficiency in solid waste collection, responding to a critical need of various communities seeking to optimize their sanitation and protect the environment.
The Administrative Minister of the Presidency, Andrés Bautista García, led the handover ceremony held on the esplanade of the National Palace. During his speech, he emphasized that this measure is part of a government strategy to support local governments, mitigating the health risks associated with the accumulation of waste in urban and rural environments.
A strategic plan for high demand
According to official data, the Government has received nearly 240 requests for technical assistance and equipment from 2024 to the present year. Given this demand and the budgetary limitations faced by various municipalities, an acquisition process was initiated for a total of 100 units, half of which have already been distributed.
The municipalities and municipal districts selected in this first stage include territories from the provinces of Azua, Bahoruco, Barahona, Elías Piña, Independencia, Pedernales, Peravia, San Cristóbal, San José de Ocoa, and San Juan. Likewise, areas of Greater Santo Domingo are integrated, such as Los Alcarrizos and Pedro Brand, in addition to locations in Monte Plata, El Seibo, and Hato Mayor.
Taking care of them as if they were one’s own, preventing them from ending up in a scrapyard after two or three years.

Authorities present at the delivery
The event featured the participation of key figures in the local administration, reaffirming the inter-institutional commitment. Among the attendees were:
- Víctor D’Aza, president of the Dominican Municipal League.
- Nelson Núñez, mayor of Samaná and president of the Dominican Federation of Municipalities (Fedomu).
- Lioncito José, president of the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (Fedodim).
- Representatives from the Ministry of Labor, DO Sostenible, and the General Directorate of Community Development.
The delivery of this equipment not only represents a logistical improvement for the municipalities, but also reinforces the central Government’s commitment to sustainable development and the quality of life of citizens throughout the national territory.
