Google Cloud reaffirms its commitment to digital transformation in the Dominican Republic
Google Cloud President for Latin America, Eduardo López, held a strategic meeting with President Luis Abinader at the Presidential House in Santiago de los Caballeros. During the meeting, the executive highlighted the marked dynamism and growth potential that the Dominican Republic presents in the regional technological ecosystem.
The dialogue, in which the Minister of the Presidency also participated, served to analyze the progress the country has made in its state modernization process. López emphasized that the Caribbean nation has a clear roadmap to integrate technology as an engine of development.
The Dominican Republic has demonstrated a clear vision regarding the role of technology in the country’s development. Google recognizes that leadership and reiterates its willingness to support, with full respect for the institutions and sovereign decisions of the Dominican State, the digital transformation efforts that the country decides to undertake.

Technological infrastructure and regional connectivity
Within Google’s regional strategy, the Dominican Republic occupies a privileged position. The company highlighted the country’s relevance in the Americas Connect initiative, an infrastructure project that contemplates an investment of 500 million dollars in the region.

- Expansion of the Firmina cable to strengthen international connectivity.
- Positioning the country as a key digital interconnection hub between Latin America, the Caribbean, the United States, and Europe.
Beyond physical infrastructure, Google Cloud reaffirmed its commitment to the development of local talent. The multinational highlighted that it will continue to provide support to public education and collaborate technically with state institutions, always while respecting the country’s institutional processes and regulations.
