Gladys Almonte’s family demands a thorough investigation following the discovery of her body
Uncertainty surrounds the family of 29-year-old Gladys Almonte, whose body was found early last Tuesday near the Guaco-La Vega section of the Duarte Highway. Faced with preliminary reports suggesting a traffic accident, her father, Fredy Almonte, has formally requested that authorities deepen their investigation, as he believes there are inconsistencies that contradict the hit-and-run hypothesis.
Doubts about the official version
Fredy Almonte maintains that the scene where the body was found does not match the characteristics typical of a road accident. According to his testimony, if his daughter had been struck and dragged by a vehicle for a kilometer, as has been suggested, the scene should show evident traces, such as bloodstains or drag marks on the pavement, elements which, he claims, were not observed in the area.
When a person is hit and dragged, they leave a trail. There were no marks on the highway. That is what we want the authorities to investigate.

The family emphasizes that the fact that the body was found in a vegetated area off the main road raises suspicions about the possible involvement of third parties. Therefore, they urge the authorities to carry out a reconstruction of the events and an exhaustive forensic analysis that will clear up any doubts as to whether it was an accident or a criminal act.
Research lines
Among the details provided to investigators, the young woman’s father reported that three days before the discovery, a person whose residence is located in Sabaneta, La Vega, had allegedly taken Gladys from her home. For this reason, the family requests that this person be located and interrogated to clarify the young woman’s whereabouts during her final days and the nature of their relationship.
- Gladys Almonte, who was about to turn 30, leaves behind two daughters aged 13 and 9.
- The victim’s father clarified that he is not directly pointing fingers at anyone, but insists that the Public Prosecutor’s Office must determine the truth of the facts.
- The family remains waiting for the conclusive results from the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) in Santiago.
As investigations unfold, Gladys Almonte’s loved ones hope that the collected evidence and testimonies will allow for the reconstruction of her final hours and provide justice for this tragic event.
