Gigantes del Cibao begin training for the LIDOM season
The Gigantes del Cibao launched their official training camp this Friday at the Julián Javier Stadium, marking the start of their preparation for the upcoming season of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). With an initial attendance of 42 players, the team showed a solid balance between veteran figures and new talent.
The first day featured the presence of club leaders such as Leury García, Carlos Peguero, Carlos Franco, Kelvin Gutiérrez, Bryan Rodríguez, Emilio Vargas, and Richard Rodríguez. Likewise, young talents Dauri Fernández and Juan Mateo, who were selected by the organization in the recent Rookie Draft, joined the group.
Leadership on the field
Preseason work is currently being led by coach Adrián Texidor. The strategist will remain in charge of practices while the team’s head manager, Miguel Cairo, concludes his current commitments in Major League Baseball with the Baltimore Orioles.
The high player attendance from the very first day is a clear sign of the commitment and energy with which our organization is facing this new challenge in winter baseball.

The opening ceremony featured the participation of the board of directors and the coaching staff, highlighting the welcoming remarks by Jaylon Pimentel and the motivational message from administrator Yissel Infante. Also present were Rafael Almanzar, Marketing Director, and the staff of the Baseball Operations department, who oversee the rigorous conditioning program.
Opening day roster detail
The pitching staff had a strong presence with 25 pitchers, including established figures and invited players looking for a spot on the final roster. On the other hand, 17 position players completed the group, focusing on batting and defensive drills under the watchful eye of the coaches.
With this solid base of 42 players, the Gigantes del Cibao project an intense preseason, betting on the combination of experience and youth to achieve success in the upcoming championship.
