Despite being wounded during the attack, Commander Smit Machchhar managed, along with the rest of the crew and the support of the passengers on board, to contain the aggressor and prevent a greater tragedy. After the incident, the flight was diverted from its original route and made an emergency landing safely at Tabuk Airport, in Saudi Arabia.
