National Police detail how the robbery of Julián Oro Duro’s residence was planned
The National Police presented a preliminary reconstruction of the tragic assault that occurred at the residence of merengue artist Julián Oro Duro in East Santo Domingo, an event that resulted in the death of his wife, Zeneida Socorro Castillo, and left the artist injured. During a press conference, the institution’s spokesperson, Colonel Diego Pesqueira, confirmed that four people directly linked to the crime are already in custody.
The detainees were identified as Kevin Dariel Germán Troncoso (Yandel), Phillips Michael Tejeda Vásquez (Leandro), Juan Carlos Hernández García (Peña), and Lawrence Marliranzo Marcos (Chiquito). The latter, 18 years old, was captured this Wednesday afternoon, completing the group of individuals identified by the authorities so far.
Trust as a tool for criminals
According to investigations, the attack was meticulously planned. The suspects were captured on security cameras on Sunday afternoon in La Victoria, organizing their transport to the artist’s home in Prado Oriental. According to the authorities, the group entered the property by taking advantage of the close relationship of trust they maintained with the family.
Pesqueira highlighted that Phillips Michael Tejeda Vásquez, who served as a driver and collaborator at the merengue singer’s properties, was allegedly the mastermind behind the plan. For his part, Lawrence Marliranzo Marcos (Chiquito) was a regular collaborator in the construction of one of the artist’s villas. The police spokesperson lamented that the victim, Zeneida Socorro Castillo, welcomed them into her home, prepared food for them, and treated them like close acquaintances before being attacked by them.
He prepared food for him, he prepared juice for him, he treated him like family in his home and then they became his executioners.

Advances in research and evidence recovery
The authorities have managed to recover several key items, including a bundle with the artist’s belongings that was thrown near the San Luis toll booth, a vehicle key, and part of the stolen cash. In the raids carried out, the clothing that the individuals allegedly wore on the day of the crime was also seized.
- Legal status: The Public Prosecutor’s Office is working on the individualization of the charges.
- Artist’s condition: Julián Oro Duro, who is currently receiving medical attention, was able to unequivocally identify two of the detainees as people he trusted.
- Active search: The Police continue to search for a motorcycle used by the suspects during their movement.
Although the case is in a preliminary stage, the National Police is keeping the investigations open to rule out the participation of other individuals and ensure that the full weight of the law falls on those responsible for this regrettable event that has shocked Dominican society.
