FIFA clarifies that it has not yet defined the venue for the 2030 World Cup final
FIFA has responded to recent statements coming from Morocco, reiterating that as of now, there is no official decision regarding which stadium will host the title match of the 2030 World Cup. Uncertainty persists surrounding the venue for the final match of this historic event.
The clarification from world football’s governing body comes after Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, publicly stated that the Grand Stade Hassan II, currently under construction in the Benslimane province, would have the honor of hosting the grand final.
The choice of the venue for the final will be made in due course, as officially communicated on August 5th.

The race for the final venue
The 2030 World Cup will be an unprecedented tournament, hosted primarily by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, with special opening matches in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay to commemorate the centenary of the first World Cup. In this context, three stadiums are emerging as the top candidates to host the final match of the tournament:
- Grand Stade Hassan II (Morocco): With a projected capacity of 115,000 spectators, this venue aims to position itself as one of the largest on the planet following its scheduled inauguration in 2027.
- Camp Nou (Spain): Following its ambitious renovation, the Barcelona stadium will have an approximate capacity of 105,000 fans.
- Santiago Bernabéu (Spain): The iconic Madrid stadium, with its modern capacity for 78,297 spectators, remains a solid and highly prestigious option.
From Spain, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has defended its position, arguing that the country has the necessary weight and adequate infrastructure to be the epicenter of world football. Rafael Louzán, a representative of the entity, recently underscored Spain’s footballing leadership, although he acknowledges that the final decision rests exclusively with FIFA.
It is worth remembering that FIFA had previously denied rumors regarding alleged political agreements linked to the selection of the host. For now, the football world remains in suspense, awaiting the definitive announcement that will put an end to the speculation about where the trophy will be lifted in 2030.
