Boosting school soccer: FIFA and INEFI deliver materials in the Southern region
Football in educational centers of the Regional 03 of Education has received significant support thanks to the arrival of the Football for Schools program. This initiative, promoted by FIFA in a strategic alliance with the National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI), seeks to strengthen sports practice from the classrooms in the provinces of Azua, San José de Ocoa, and Peravia.
The formal delivery of the balls and sports equipment took place in Azua, with key representation from both entities. During the event, Mariano Pérez Tejeda, FIFA Development and Training Manager; Betzaida Ubri, head of the INEFI School Clubs Department, representing its director Alberto Rodríguez; and Robert Brito, INEFI regional technician, were present.
Comprehensive training through sport
Beyond the provision of equipment, the Football for Schools project transcends physical activity. The main objective is to consolidate football as a pedagogical tool that fosters the personal growth of students. Among the pillars that are sought to be instilled in the student community are:
- Constant discipline in the academic and sports fields.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Promotion of healthy school coexistence.
- Mutual respect among peers.
This collaboration between INEFI and FIFA represents a decisive step toward democratizing access to sports, allowing children and adolescents in these provinces to discover and refine their soccer skills in a controlled and positive educational environment.
With this delivery day, sports authorities reaffirmed their commitment to the integral development of Dominican youth, ensuring that educational centers have the necessary resources for soccer to be a key piece in the regional educational system.
