Tension in Haina: La Feliciana community demands answers after rescue of minors at foundation
The community of La Feliciana, located in Bajos de Haina, San Cristóbal, is plunged into uncertainty and fear following the recent operation carried out by the authorities at the Restaurando Vida Foundation, popularly known as “A Dead Man Who Revives.” The rescue of 13 minors, who were allegedly suffering from abuse, has uncovered a series of complaints from residents regarding the irregular activities that were taking place at said center.
Representatives of the neighborhood association have pointed out that the problem is not limited solely to the well-being of the children, but to the constant presence of individuals from outside the area, whom they link to various criminal acts that have affected the tranquility of the sector in recent times.
Community voices: Concern about insecurity
Florencio Carela, president of the neighborhood association, thanked the bravery of the minor who managed to escape and raise the alarm, which allowed for state intervention. According to Carela, the coexistence of minors with individuals of unknown profiles and supposedly linked to criminal activity represented a ticking time bomb for the residents of La Feliciana.

Other residents, such as Víctor Cordero Pichardo and Rafael de la Rosa, have reported incidents ranging from the theft of household appliances and agricultural products to suspicious behavior during the early morning hours. Although the residents admit they did not witness the assaults against the minors because they remained confined, the perception of insecurity has grown exponentially since the foundation began operating in the sector.

- The Public Prosecutor’s Office maintains an open investigation to clarify the living conditions of the rescued minors.
- The 10 children and adolescents rescued are currently under the protection of the Protection System.
- The community demands a definitive intervention by the authorities to guarantee social peace and the protection of the minors’ rights.
Francisca María Abreu, secretary of the neighborhood association, emphasized that, although the foundation had been operating for a long time, the secrecy with which they handled the children made it impossible to know the reality of the facts. Now, the neighbors’ outcry is unanimous: they hope that the investigations will determine clear responsibilities and that decisive measures will be taken to restore security to La Feliciana.
