Faride Raful defends effectiveness of patrolling and highlights importance of citizen reporting
The Minister of Interior and Police, Faride Raful, emphasized the relevance of a culture of reporting to optimize citizen security in the country. During her speech, the official rejected allegations regarding a supposed lack of patrolling in sectors such as Evaristo Morales, clarifying that police operations are designed strictly based on statistics and official reports from the system.

Strengthening the police force and technology
Raful highlighted the significant progress in the operational capacity of the National Police compared to previous years. According to the figures presented by the minister, while in 2020 only 13% of officers performed patrol duties, that figure has currently risen to 45%.
- Institutional growth: Nearly 11,000 new agents have been added in the last three years, all trained under the new police reform model.
- 2028 Goal: The Government projects the incorporation of a total of 20,000 new police officers to strengthen national surveillance.
- Real-time monitoring: Authorities use advanced technological tools, including live cameras connected to patrols and the 9-1-1 system, to supervise operations in the sectors.
The minister concluded that public perception must always be contrasted with official data, reiterating that the population’s collaboration in reporting criminal acts is the most effective tool for security agencies to intervene in a timely and precise manner.
