Estrellas Orientales begin preparation with 32 players in minicamp
The Estrellas Orientales have demonstrated a firm commitment to the upcoming season of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). The green team began their preparation work with a well-attended minicamp, which featured the presence of 32 players at the Detroit Tigers’ academy facilities, located in Ramón Santana.
Ángel Ovalles, Vice President of Baseball Operations for the organization, spoke positively about the athletes’ willingness to join the practices in advance. The executive highlighted that this level of attendance in mid-September reflects the mystique and responsibility that characterizes the team ahead of the official start of the campaign, scheduled for next October 16.
It’s incredible. Having 32 players in a minicamp, on September 14th, speaks well of the kind of commitment our players feel.

Impact talent on the field
The group of players that reported from the first day includes fundamental pieces in both pitching and offense. Among the pitchers present, experienced and high-caliber figures stood out, such as Oscar de la Cruz, Esmil Rogers, Jhan Maríñez, Gregory Santos, Neftalí Féliz, and Domingo Tapia. For their part, the offense featured the integration of key players such as Raimel Tapia, Wilín Rosario, José Devers, and Sandber Pimentel.
Raimel Tapia: The offensive engine
One of the points highlighted by management was the presence of Raimel Tapia. The star outfielder, who is coming off a historic performance last season by leading the league with 73 hits and recording a .356 batting average, has once again demonstrated his leadership by joining the group early.
For the organization, having Tapia from the start of training camp is a significant boost, solidifying expectations of success for the team in the new winter campaign.
Preparation calendar

With this solid start, the Estrellas Orientales seek to establish a competitive foundation that is well-evaluated by the coaching staff, reaffirming that the path toward the 2026-27 season championship is already underway.
