Teacher arrested in Valverde for alleged sexual assault against a minor
Judicial authorities in Valverde province executed the arrest of a teacher, identified as Miguel Antonio Solís Álvarez, who is accused of his alleged participation in a case of sexual assault against an eight-year-old child.
The measure was possible following the issuance of Order number 672/2026, handed down on August 24, 2026, by Judge Yiberty M. Polanco Herrán, head of the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of said district. The court order was in response to a formal request filed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office following initial investigations.
Procedure details
The capture operation was carried out by officers from the Specialized Division for Attention to Women and Intrafamily Violence (Deamvi), who proceeded to place the accused in the custody of the judicial system for the corresponding purposes.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office continues to work on gathering evidence to clarify the facts and determine the relevant criminal responsibilities in this case.
It is important to highlight that, under the legal framework of the Dominican Republic, Solís Álvarez maintains his presumption of innocence until a final sentence is issued. Likewise, the authorities have emphasized that, in strict compliance with child protection laws, the identity of the victim will be kept confidential throughout the judicial process.
