Embassy of Italy launches photography contest to highlight the Dominican vision

The Embassy of Italy in the Dominican Republic has officially launched its first edition of the photography contest titled “Moments of Italy: Italy through the Dominican gaze”. This cultural proposal has as its main objective to explore and celebrate the perception that Dominicans have of the European nation through the artistic lens.

The launch event, held in an atmosphere of brotherhood, featured the participation of the Italian ambassador, Sergio Maffettone, who highlighted the role of photography as a fundamental bridge to strengthen the historical and cultural ties between both nations. The evening was hosted by communicator María Angélica Ureña and was attended by prominent figures from the diplomatic and cultural spheres.

Contest details and awards

The contest invites amateur and professional photographers to capture the essence, traditions, landscapes, and Italian influence from an authentically Dominican perspective. The initiative seeks to transform each image into a story that connects both countries.

  • Featured prizes: The contest features attractive incentives, highlighting two airline tickets to Italy thanks to the collaboration of Neos Air, in addition to other special recognitions.
  • Announcement of winners: The Embassy of Italy plans to announce the winners of this first edition during the month of December.

This initiative represents an opportunity to further strengthen the historical and cultural relationship between Italy and the Dominican Republic, while fostering the creativity and talent of Dominican photographers.

The event also had the institutional support of INDEX, represented by Nicole Medina, and the presence of Ángelo Viro, president of the Casa de Italia. The artistic portion was led by violinist Eva Camaro, who enlivened the evening with a musical performance that harmonized with the theme of the contest.
