Elon Musk proposes a Hyperloop to connect Austin and San Antonio
Visionary entrepreneur Elon Musk has put an ambitious project on the table through his company, The Boring Company: the creation of a high-speed transportation system that would connect the cities of Austin and San Antonio, in Texas. According to the tycoon, this “simple precursor to the Hyperloop” would allow the journey between both metropolises to be made in less than 30 minutes, transforming mobility in the region.
The proposal emerged on the social network X, where Musk reacted to an artificial intelligence-generated video about space colonization. Given the anticipation, The Boring Company’s official account backed the idea, expressing its willingness and honor to carry out infrastructure of such magnitude. However, it is important to note that as of now, there is no formal agreement, contract, or authorization from local or state authorities in Texas.
Technology and infrastructure challenges
The original Hyperloop concept is based on pods that travel at extreme speeds inside low-pressure tubes, minimizing air resistance. Despite this, Musk has not detailed whether his plan for Texas will follow this exact model or if it will be a different technological variant.
