Suspects in deadly assault in Licey al Medio turn themselves in

The National Police reported that two men, who were being actively sought for their alleged participation in a violent robbery committed at a commercial establishment in the Las Palomas sector, in Licey al Medio, surrendered voluntarily to the authorities.

The individuals were identified as Yermy de Jesús Peralta Mena, known as “El Flaco”, and Christopher Gracias Sandoval, nicknamed “Manilón” or “Gordo”. Both citizens had active arrest warrants for their alleged connection to the tragic event that occurred on September 14th.

Case details

The incident under investigation resulted in the death of Wilton Miguel Arias Arias, who was shot during the robbery. Following the attack, the victim was taken to a hospital where he remained under medical care for several days before succumbing to the injuries sustained.

Research advances

The authorities have intensified procedural efforts to clarify the facts. As part of this effort, various raids have been executed, allowing for the seizure of key evidence. These items are currently undergoing forensic analysis and are being cross-referenced with recordings obtained from surveillance cameras located in the area of the incident.

The surrender of both men took place at the police headquarters of Espaillat province, through coordination with their relatives and legal representative.

The law enforcement institution confirmed that, following their surrender, “El Flaco” and “Manilón” will be subject to an investigation process to determine their degree of responsibility in the crime. Subsequently, they will be placed under the control of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the corresponding legal purposes.
