Santiago becomes the epicenter of the regional debate on development and technology at ECLAC

The city of Santiago de los Caballeros continues to be the main stage for the 41st Session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). This Thursday, the agenda intensifies with a strategic focus on the region’s response to the geopolitical, economic, and technological transformations that mark the current global landscape.

Analysis of the future of Latin America and the Caribbean

One of the most anticipated moments of the day is the presentation of the report titled “Ruptures and opportunities: proposals for Latin America and the Caribbean to prosper in the new geopolitical era.” This document will be analyzed by a panel of experts, highlighting the participation of the former President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, who is a member of the ECLAC Commission on Geopolitics, Globalization and Development. Following the presentation, a high-level dialogue will be held between foreign ministers and government authorities to debate the recommendations put forward in the study.

Santiago consolidates itself as a key point for regional debate, reaffirming its fundamental role in the search for strategies that allow nations to face the challenges of the new international order through innovation and integration.

Work agenda and thematic panels

The activity program for this Thursday includes working groups focused on regional collaboration and technological advancement. The key points of the day are as follows:

  • Regional Integration: Starting at 2:30 in the afternoon, the high-level seminar titled “A new stage in regional integration: what to do and how to move forward” will be held, with the participation of representatives from Barbados, Brazil, Mexico, CARICOM, SICA, and leaders of the Dominican business sector.
  • Digital Transformation: At 4:30 in the afternoon, the focus will shift toward artificial intelligence and productive development, featuring the intervention of specialists and officials from various international organizations.

The meeting will conclude with statements from the delegations present and a closing social event, which will take place on the esplanade of the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration, hosted on behalf of the Dominican Republic. With this display, Santiago positions itself as the hub from which roadmaps for the economic development and technological modernization of the entire regional bloc are drawn.
