The Dominican Republic national team concluded an outstanding performance in the 2026 Kids Caribbean Series, taking home the runner-up title after an exciting final matchup. The national team fell with a score of 11 runs to 8 against Mexico Green, represented by the Jaguares de Nayarit, in a duel that maintained sporting tension until the very last breath of the game.
The Dominican team reached the final match backed by an impeccable track record, having remained undefeated throughout the tournament. Their dominance on the field was evident from the first day, establishing themselves as one of the top favorites thanks to the high level of play exhibited on Mexican soil.
An unexpected outcome
The match, which was shaping up to be an epic battle, was decided in the top of the sixth inning. The home offense managed to decipher the Dominican pitching with a burst of hits, including consecutive home runs that changed the course of the score. This attack was decisive in breaking the winning streak that the Dominicans had built with effort throughout the competition.
Although the adverse result was partly due to defensive lapses in the final innings, the Dominican delegation demonstrated a first-rate technical level, gallantry, and a high sporting spirit that held the national flag high in this important international youth-level competition.
Recognition of effort
Beyond the final result, the performance of the young baseball players was exemplary. The board of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) issued an official statement expressing their pride and congratulations to both the players and the coaching staff.
