Diana, Princess of Wales: Unheard audio revealed in the documentary ‘Diana: The Rest of Her Story’
The figure of Diana, Princess of Wales, is once again the center of attention with the announcement of the documentary series ‘Diana Unheard’. This audiovisual project presents previously unreleased audio recordings that offer a more intimate and direct perspective of the remembered princess, and will be officially showcased at the international market MIPCOM, which will take place in Cannes from October 12 to 15.
The production, made by the British company Love Monday, is structured into three fundamental chapters. The material is based on conversations recorded in secret during 1991, when Diana opened up to her friend James Colthurst. These recordings, which total five hours in length, were the pillar of the book ‘Diana: Her True Story’, written by Andrew Morton in 1992.
A new vision of Lady Di
Far from the portraits that have historically labeled her as a vulnerable figure, the creators of this series seek to change the established narrative. Kerene Barefield, creative director of Love Monday TV, highlighted that the documentary presents a woman who takes the reins of her own story.
In making ‘Diana Unheard’, we wanted to challenge the narrative that has too often portrayed Diana, Princess of Wales, simply as a victim of her circumstances. It shows a woman taking control of her own narrative and risking everything to make her voice heard.

Richard Life, a representative for Cineflix Rights, the company in charge of distribution, described this material as a unique opportunity to hear the princess’s story told in her own words at a defining moment in her life.

Interest in the life of Princess Diana remains current, recently fueled by the memoirs of her brother, Earl Charles Spencer. This new documentary release joins a series of productions that have explored the complex dynamics of the British monarchy, cementing Lady Di as a cultural icon who continues to generate global impact decades after her tragic passing in 1997.
The monarchical institution, for its part, has remained on the sidelines of the recent media controversies arising from publications about the royal family, maintaining its usual stance of not commenting on literary works or documentaries that address the private lives of its members.
