Anti-drug trafficking operation in El Factor results in the arrest of a minor
Agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), in a joint effort with the Public Ministry, managed to dismantle an illicit substance distribution operation in the municipality of El Factor, located in the María Trinidad Sánchez province. During the intervention, a 16-year-old adolescent was arrested, from whom a significant quantity of narcotics and an illegal firearm were seized.
The tactical deployment took place in the vicinity of the El Factor-Nagua highway, near a lodging establishment in the area. According to the official report, the young man attempted to evade the presence of the authorities while riding a black Bajaj Platina motorcycle, but was immediately intercepted by DNCD agents.
Seizures carried out by the authorities
After carrying out the corresponding search, the authorities confiscated the following items:
- 231 portions of a white powder, presumably cocaine, with a total weight of 731 grams.
- A Glock brand pistol, .45 caliber, equipped with three magazines and without the required legal documentation.
- The sum of RD$2,550 in cash.
The seized substance has been sent under strict chain of custody protocols to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF). There, specialists will perform the necessary laboratory analyses to confirm its chemical composition and determine the exact weight of the narcotic.
The authorities have confirmed that, due to the detainee’s status as a minor, the case will be channeled through the specialized jurisdiction for Children and Adolescents, with the support of the National Council for Children and Adolescents (CONANI) to ensure due process.
