Gregory Arturo Calzado Paredes, alias “Big Leaguer”, captured, linked to drug trafficking

In a strategic operation coordinated between the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), the National Police, and the Public Ministry, Gregory Arturo Calzado Paredes, known in criminal circles as “Big Leaguer,” was captured in Boca Chica. The individual was a fugitive from justice and had a declaration of rebellion against him following his involvement in the seizure of more than 300 kilograms of cocaine at the Caucedo Multimodal Port.

The arrest was carried out on Primera Street in the municipal district of La Caleta, where the authorities managed to locate the suspect, complying with the resolution of rebellion number 54804-2023-SREB-00058, issued by the Permanent Attention Office of the Judicial District of the Santo Domingo province.

Investigated by Operation Kraken

Beyond the case related to the Caucedo Multimodal Port, investigations into “Big Leaguer” have intensified due to his alleged links to the so-called Operation Kraken. This criminal structure is pointed out by the authorities as a network dedicated to the international trafficking of controlled substances, with operations reaching destinations in:

  • Puerto Rico
  • United States
  • Canada
  • Europe

With the capture of Calzado Paredes, the Public Ministry is proceeding to place him at the disposal of the justice system to face the judicial charges that prompted his search and the new lines of investigation linking his criminal history to transnational drug trafficking networks.

Following this arrest, authorities are expected to continue their investigations to completely dismantle the tentacles of the criminal network with which he is associated, reaffirming Alofoke Deportes’ commitment to keeping the public informed about events of national relevance.
