Blow to crime in Santiago: Two arrested and weapons seized in operations in Palmar Abajo
In a coordinated operation to strengthen citizen security, police authorities in Santiago de los Caballeros carried out two simultaneous raids in the Palmar Abajo sector, achieving significant results against the illegal possession of weapons and organized crime.
The interventions were executed by agents of the Cibao Central Regional Sub-directorate of Intelligence (DINTEL), who had the tactical support of the SWAT team and Preventive Police officers. The deployment was carried out under judicial orders numbers 2026-AJ0067222 and 2026-AJ0067228, in strict coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Operation details
As a result of these actions, two men were taken into custody after various illicit items were found in their possession:
- Alexi Fermín García: He was arrested at the first location raided. During the search, agents confiscated a pepper spray gun, as well as 15 .38 caliber casings, one .380 casing, and five 12-gauge cartridges.
- Wilburg Rafael Santos: Captured in the second procedure, a Maverick model 88 12-gauge shotgun with five cartridges, an F.T. brand 9-millimeter caliber pistol, and two magazines for said weapon were seized from him.
The authorities confirmed that, in addition to the weapons and ammunition, cell phones and other items of evidentiary value were seized, which will be fundamental for furthering the ongoing investigations.
Both the detainees and the collected evidence were handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the body that will proceed with the due judicial process to determine the corresponding legal responsibilities in accordance with current regulations.
